All About Hua Hin Hua Hin is a small coastal town in Thailand around 220km south of Bangkok. In the 1920's the southern railway route was constructed and Hua Hin was discovered. The British engineers on the railway built the first golf course here and the King Rama 4 was so enthusiastic about this beautiful place that he built a summer palace and named it Klai Kung Won (Far From Worries).
The former fishing village now has 50,000 inhabitants including several thousand foreigners that live here all year round or periodically. Many high end hotels and resorts are now situated in Hua Hin including the Hilton, Sofitel, Marriott and many other 5 to 3 stars hotels. Hua Hin also has numerous foreign owned or managed guesthouses, restaurants and bar.
Hua Hin has 6 golf courses with International standard designed of the very best designers in the world. Hua Hin is a golfing Mecca.
It has fine beaches, excellent seafood, good shopping and lots of restaurants. 70% of the tourists are repeat visitors to Hua Hin against 60% for the whole of Thailand. Nightlife is very low key and family friendly.
There are several attractions in the local area such as temples, national parks, waterfalls, beaches, royal palaces and animal sanctuarys. There is no shortage of things to do in Hua Hin.
Climate in Hua Hin
March, April, May, and June are the warmest months of the year. July, August, September and October is when the rain falls. This usually occurs at night or in the afternoon. Peak tourist season is November, December, January and February. These months have the lowest temperatures of the year and no rain.
The rain is usually heavy for a short period of time. This is really refreshing as it cools down the atmosphere. Yearly rainfall is 1000 mm of which 700 mm falls in the rainy season.
The rain is warm unlike Europe, but just as wet as anywhere else!
